Learning the Lensbaby

I love my Lensbaby Edge 80 so much, but there is one down-side: it is an 80 mm lens so it doesn't focus very close.
I thought I would just have to buy some macro rings for the lens (priced at $50), but a few days ago I sat my camera down after using it and when I walked back by I noticed something looked funny about the lens. It was extended -- almost like a zoom lens looks when you zoom in. After toying around with it I discovered one of those things that just makes you happy, happy, happy! :D When you pull the extension out, it will focus at a closer range. Yay!
Somehow in all of my research about the lens I never saw anything about this little trick it can do. :)

Here's what it looks like and some examples:

  1. Wow glad you found that out, makes a whole lot of difference! It's weird that they don't advertise about macro, I never knew about it either

    1. Yeah, well if I would have read the instruction manual I would have found out earlier. I just looked it up, and it's right there in plain sight, haha! I'm not one for manuals :P

  2. Glad you figured it out! That would be frustrating not knowing how to use your lens! I wanted one of these for San Fran, but I decided not to buy one right now. I'll just use my regular lens and my fixed f/1.8 50mm lens. It's my fave.
